Original air dates May and June of 1966. Another sequence of lost eposides, reconstructed with stills and subtitles. Off to a dubious start with Steven and Dodo looking for the Doctor as he wanders around.
These people are watching the Doctor’s travels via scanner scope. Creepy. He’s gracious to them, though.
There’s something up with the savages and the people of the city. Haven’t figured that out yet. Ah, a special source of “animal vitality”. The savages. How disturbing.
Welll, they’re at least farming them responsibly rather than drinking them dry. How thoughtful.
Dodo has snuck off and something is about to happen, according to the incidental music anyway. She sees something she wasn’t intended to, the release of a “spent” savage back to the wilds. Meanwhile the other savage is drained, despite begging not to. Slurp goes the life force.
Whoops, Dodo’s going to get soul-vacuumed. Not quite, but she’s seen too much.
The Doctor has figured it out and and objects to the Elders. Good for him. Sadly, the Elders do not agree. The Doctor is “taken away” for special instructions. Even the scientist objects to draining the Doctor, but he’s forced into the “experiment”.
The plan, of course, is to drain Steven and Dodo as well.
Steven and Dodo have been warned off by the “savages” and are in hiding. The Doctor will be released.
Jano is going to take all of the Doctor’s captured life force, such a greedy jerk.
Guards chase Steven and Dodo through dark caves. It’s a tense moment, but tedious to watch in a slide show. Steven taunts him. Steven has a plan involving mirrors, which works. They lead the guard back outside under the power of his own gun.
Meanwhile, back at the lab in the City, Jano is about to get a transference of all the Doctor’s energies.
Steven and Dodo have a plan to sneak into the City to get the Doctor. They have to get past guards and through the City to the guest apartment they were going to get. They zap a guard and sneak in.
Jano’s absorbed all the energy and is acting rather Doctor-like. He’s slow on the uptake but figuring it out quickly. Jano and the Doctor argue about what to do with themselves.
Guards capture Steven and Dodo with a gas that they can’t breathe and reflects the light guns. Dodo and the Doctor manage to escape while Steven delays the guards, before just getting out he door. Chal finds them and takes them to the caves for the Doctor to recover… why don’t they go to the impregnable TARDIS instead? Even the folks from the City thought of the TARDIS.

It’s not great to actually watch, but the message gets through.
Jano gets a good speech about destroying the equipment that gives them supremacy at the cost of the others. A great cacophony of banging and science fictiony sixties sound effects goes on.
Oh, look! The Doctor has volunteered Steven to be their new leader, and both sides seem to like it. Steven remains behind, to mediate between the groups. Another companion left, this time to a good future. TARDIS noises happen underneath a title announcing next week’s serial.
