Original air dates September through November 1967. Only one episode is extant, the rest are missing, so we’re back to slide shows. Campers high on a mountain are suddenly afraid and attacked.
The Doctor, Jaimie, and Victoria are looking at the scanner scope, and is landing in the Himilayas. The Doctor has the companions dig out warm clothes and a Tibetain bell. The Doctor leaves them to visit a monestary, and they go poking about outisde.
The Doctor finds the abandoned campsite and destroyed rifle. He goes into the monestary where he’s arrested for the murder of the other camper.
Jaimie and Victoria go into a cave, where a rock is pushed over the entrance by huge clawed hands.
The Englishman argues with The Doctor in a way that doesn’t make sense until he finally admits he’s looking for yeti.
The monks know the yeti are there and have become savage, and wonder why. They’ve lost four brothers to something. They suspect the Doctor, as a stranger. They debate something, which will be the end of the prisoner.
Oh, look, a filmed episode. The Yeti breaks Jaimie’s sword, and then chases them into the tunnel. Jaime knocks the support down and caves the roof in on it. They flee, Jaimie taking a silver ball from a pile with it.
The monks are not happy to see the Doctor, even though he returns their mystic bell. He’s the reason it’s been gone for centuries anyway, and they may not be best pleased.
The bell is returned, and the Doctor hailed by a mysterious voice as a friend, but one who should be leaving.
The metal spheres are from the yeti, which are apparently robots. The monks have a problem with this, and ignore it. The Doctor and companions are looking for the metal sphere, hoping to fix the yeti. It’s rolling around on its own. There’s one outside too.
Victoria noses around things and annoys everyone. She finally sneaks someplace she shouldn’t, and the Master voice speaks to her, telling her to leave.
The loose sphere finally makes it to the “dead” yeti and goes into it just as Victoria gets back to the meeting room. She screams as the yeti starts to move and the credits roll.
The yeti beats it way out of the monestary, leaving bloodied monks behind.
The Doctor and Jaimie wind up finding another yeti, standing motionless outside the TARDIS. They nobble the Yeti ouside by taking it’s control sphere out. When they come back, the sphere beeps and tries to get back in the yeti. The Doctor gets Jaimie to stuff a rock in there and stop it.
Back at the monestary, the monks grill Victoria about her role with the Yeti that woke up and left. They decide she’s responsible and have her locked up.
The Doctor and Jaimie are tracking the transmitters on the mountainside.
The Master’s Voice tells the abbot the monks need to leave the monestary and gives them a plan for the strangers.
“Jaimie, when I say “Run!” run like the wind.” This is a recurring theme with this Doctor and Jaimie. They dodge around yeti who are chasing the sphere they had.
Victoria escapes.
The abbott demands the strangers be captured. The head of the warriors refuses, and wants their help. They argue. Finally, the abbot wins, and the warriors go to find Victoria. The Abbot gets more advice, to drive the warriors away, and more advice. He doesn’t seem to like it, but takes it. The Abbott opens the gates for four Yeti outside the monk.
Victoria finally braves the Sanctum, and is welcomed in with a threat and credits.
Yeti rampage in the monestary, while the monks try to get away. The yeti leave, and the warrior monk says it was a mistake to fight them, and they should all leave. The Master is pleased, the monks will leave. The Master will continue to serve. Creepy.
The Master has a plan to get the Doctor to leave.
Meanwhile the Doctor tries to triangulate the signals to find out what’s going on.
Eventually, the track it to the monestary in the Sanctum where the extremely old man is lingering on life, and being controlled by an intelligence from space. They destroy its control hardware and the goo in the cave explodes.
