Original air dates December 1972 through January 1973. 10th anniversary special with three doctors in it, I think.
A man finds a battery attached to a weather balloon in a wildlife sanctuary. A black Jeep drives up to collect it. As it approaches, zap, the man is gone.
The doctor collecting the machine – Doctor Tyler – a cosmic ray monitoring device – calls UNIT because the man appears to be gone.
The machine is functioning properly, and they go off to develop the latest photograpic plate from it. Doctor Tyler vanishes, and a red smear drifts off.
The Doctor and Jo went out to the lake to check the site, and then come home. The red smear meets them at door, and eats Bessie. Beam sent an organism, and it’s hostile, and trying to eat the Doctor.
Red lumpy things appear and attack the soldiers. The soldiers have heavy weapons which don’t sesm to have much effect. Bazooka didn’t touch it.
Men evacuate. Jo won’t leave the Doctor. The organism comes back and eats the wall and the bench, and chases them into the TARDIS, which is immobilized by power drain.
The Doctor pulls the “Extreme emergency” lever. Cut to Time Lords, who can’t do anything, so they send The Doctor to The Doctor.
Second Doctor appears in the TARDIS, and says, “You’ve been redoing things. I don’t like it.” Apparently that’s a tradition.
Doctor and Doctor explain to Jo and Sgt. Benton – who remembers Second – and things get confusing. There’s a great Beatles quote.
First arrives on the scanner, “Oh, my replacements. A dandy and a clown.” A bit of a self-esteem problem.
Third goes out of the TARDIS, chased by Jo, and both get zapped by the organism. Credits roll!
Second and Benton see on the scanner that the organism has gone quiet and go to look at it, darting back into the TARDIS when it moves.
Brigadier shows up and is confused.
More arguments with Time Lords. Meeting yourself is a big no-no and they’re arguing about having put One, Two and Three together.
Three and Jo are in a quarry. They find all the things that have been transported; the lab doors, a commputer, the bench, the water cooler from the hall. The missing man is there, too, but they don’t see him.
Brigadier and Doctor go to tell Geneva what’s going on, leaving Benton with one of the Doctor’s devices to guard the organism. It’s clear Benton would be happier with his gun. The device doesn’t seem to work.
Brigadeier sees the inside of the TARDIS for the first time. He wants out to see after his men, and is stuck in the TARDIS. First shows up and gives them advice to turn off the force field.
Some cloaked figure has the Time Lord brought to him. Dr. Tyler doesn’t like to go and runs away. Foolish, but no coward.
Back in the TARDIS, Two turns off the force field, and the entier building gets moved to the black hole. Oh, and credits roll.
Now they’re all together in the black hole.
Omega brought them all here, not destroyed but moved. Omega has been greviously wronged, and now it is time for his vengence.
Omega was lost in the Supernova, says history. He was trapped in the black hole instead, and is rather bitter about it. Wants revenge, needs help.
Jo gives the Doctors a pep talk, they escape.
The humans escape and recollect the two groups into one.
The Doctor fights the mind of Omega, the Dark Omega. They toss one another around several times in eerie silence.
Time Lords talk to First, and say they’re using the last of thier power to send him through to the other two.
Fight contiues, Doctor losing. Credits roll!
The Singularity exists because Omega wills it, and if he leaves his world implodes.
The humans are escaping in Bessie, being chased, which is a ridiculous spectacle.
Omega bids the Doctors stay and keep the world alive while he goes. They remove his mask and discover there’s nothing but his will left, so he cannot go.
The Doctors find a way, and send eveyrone else home first. They try and give Omega the way home, but he won’t take it, and knocks the recorder out of the force field, which puts unexposed matter in an antimatter world and it explodes.
The Doctors jump into the TARDIS and flee.
They arrive at UNIT HQ, back where it belongs, in time for goodbyes and everyone home safe.
The Time Lords send the Doctor a new dematerilaization circuit and restore his memory of time theory. He is free! Just as soon as he fixes his force field generator.
