Original air dates February through April of 1972. A six parter, starting with green men taking over a ship, and Jo and the Doctor in a boat.
They visit the Master, in prison on an island. It’s a front for the Master is in charge. They hear about vanishing ships, and the Doctor goes to poke around. The Navy is not amused.
There are three lost ships, centering on an abandoned fort, which is being reactivated for use as a sonar testing station. There’s a skeleton crew on it now, working on the foundaations. One of them sees a green man and is killed. The other maintnenance guy finds the body and may or may not be killed.
Doctor and Jo go out to the fort and poke around. Sci-fi noises seem to follow them around. Their boat is sunk. They find a dead man. They hear heavy breathing and steps coming towards them as the credits interrupt.
It’s the other workman, raving that they’ve killed him, the Sea Devils have killed him. The Doctor gives him a sedative and they go look for transistor radios to build a transmistter with.
The Sea Devil appears, and chases the Doctor, who tries to talk to it. Nothing of note happens.
They shock the creature and it runs away, so they chase it.
On shore, they realize the Doctor and Jo are missing and send a chopper to the fort. The Doctor’s radio eventually works.
The Master dons Captain’s clothing, and escapes. They go to the main base, and the Master picks up some bits and bobs. A Chief Petty Officer resists the Master’s Whammy and is left unconcious.
The good guys find the body and are closing the net on the Master himself. The Doctor goes to check on him, exactly as the Master wants. The Master has a gun, the Doctor runs away, takes the gun from him. They swordfight in the hallway how very dramatic. The Doctor is winning, but turns his back on the Master, who throws a knife at him! CREDITS HAPPEN!
The Doctor and Jo are held prisoner at the Master’s behest, although Jo escapes.
The Master knows of the reptiles and is going to let them have the world back.
A sub is dispached to check out the fort.
Jo, on the loose. breaks back in to rescue the Doctor. Does so. Annoys The Master.
The sub loses power, sinks. Is invaded by Sea Devils.
Doctor and Jo are chased to the beach by the soldiers, and pinned between Men With Guns and a minefield. The Master turns on his sci-fi machine and summons Sea Devils out of the water. The credits roll as the net closes.
The Sea Devils attack the Men WIth Guns, and the Doctor and Jo make for the minefield, using the sonic screwdriver as a mine detector. The Doctor drives the Sea Devil off by using the sonic screwdriver to set off bombs.
Men With Guns now have golf carts and horses.
The Doctor gets some leverage with the Navy, who’s lost the sub. The Master has his comm device working, and the Sea Devils appear in the prison. The Master is sprung, while the others are all killed.
The Doctor wants to dive and inspect the seabed at the fort. They’re sending him down in a diving bell contraption thing. The Navy is quite competent. As soon as comms are lost, they raise the bell. The Doctor is gone and credits roll.
The Doctor has been taken to the Sea Devils and has a conversation with them. He tries to talk them into peace.
The Ministry sends a high-handed arrogant ass to kill them all. He’s sexist, racist, and listens to no one. Bomb them all now, despite the presence of the sub and the Doctor.
Showdown on the Seabed between the Master and the Doctor. The reptiles have to figure out who to trust.
The Navy attacks with all it had handy. So far only conventional weapons. The attack happens just as the Sea Devils had decided to allow the Doctor to try and make peace with the humans. The Master gloats.
The Doctor escapes, frees the sub Captain and First Mate. They go to the sub and try to break it free. An alarm is sounded. A force field stops the sub; the sub fires torpedoes to break free. The sub surfaces, bringing the Doctor home.
The Doctor has Bad News and is unhappy with the minister’s stooge.
The Sea Devils attack the base looking for parts for the Master. Credits roll.
Jo escapes through the ventilation shafts and being small. The Doctor causes a disturbance, and Jo and the Navy captain steal a hovercraft and run away.
Another hovercraft full of Navy with rifles shows up and can hurt the Sea Devils. The Sea Devils do not stand a chance against crew served guns, either.
The Master swipes a jetski and runs off to the Sea Devil base. The Doctor follows in another one.
Navy men shoot up the Sea Devils. A few flee to the water and escape.
The Doctor and Master are at the Sea Devil base, installing the trigger mechanism. They are both sent to the cages.
“I reversed the polarity of the neutron flow.”
Will cause a huge feedback and blow up the enemy base. The Doctor and the Master escape, are picked up by a hovercraft. The Master steals the hovercraft and escapes. Credits roll.
