Original air dates March and April of 1971. A short one with only four episodes in the serial.
Things are happening with a UFO. It lands someplace, dodging our missiles. Unsure what the old codger on the bicycle is, other than a target.
The officius Mr. Chin is a British minister of some sort, who’s also an officious prick.
The aliens grab the codger and scan him. The aliens are really gross.
They ate the codger, bones and all, leaving a hollow shell. Ick.
The aliens notice the Doctor’s an alien. The aliens have the Master. And the FBI man. Jo follows them in later, and hears the FBI man calling for help. The Master introduces himself to the FBI man, who doesn’t tell him he’s been sent to stop the Master.
Nice aliens introduce themselves and want to stay on earth to recharge their fuel cells. They offer the magical mineral, axonite.
Jo, looking for the FBI guy, finds an ugly tentalcy alien, and the credits roll.
The nice aliens blow Jo’s concern off as halluncinations related to the power supply of their ship. The humans reach an agreement regarding Axonite, and leave the creepy ship.
The officious Mr. Chin is a real piece of work.
The Master has a side deal going on with the Axons for death of all life on Earth. Just a small goal.
The FBI man escapes, following the Master.
People run around. The Doctor does science, figuring out Axonite and the Axons are the same and that it’ll eat people. Credits roll, oops.
They try to force the Doctor to give them time travel. They threaten Jo and he capitulates. With the power output of the UK they can time travel to eat all the things. They send an Axon to hook up to the reactor. UNITs bullets do no good.
The Master tries to fix the Doctor’s TARDIS, is caught by UNIT. Master barters his freedom for the solution. He’s using the Doctor’s TARDIS as a giant capacitor to suck up all the power the Axons wanted and deliver it to them in a giant blast. The Master triggers the blast while Jo and the Doctor are still inside Axos-ship. Credits roll.
Axos fights back by returning the power to the power station. They disconnect at the last possible second. UNIT sets guard on the spaceship and CCTV. (High tech!) The Doctor and Master try and beat Axos.
Except the Doctor’s given up on Earth and wants help fixing his TARDIS so they can flee, or so he tells the Master. Unclear if that’s the real plan.
Axos starts the nutrition cycle and monsters appear all over to eat people and things.
Doctor and Master flee in the police box, but go only to Axos. The Doctor offers to join his TARDIS to their ship to give them time travel. The TARDIS is set for a time loop that they will never escape.
UNIT fights a losing battle against the Axons. The particle accelerator accelerates particles with no end in sight.
The Axos ship fades, taking the Axons with it. The Doctor gets the TARDIS out, leaving the Axons in the time loop.
UNIT evacuates the particle accelerator as fast as they can drive. The TARDIS appears in the empty, exploding lab. The Doctor realizes, and dematerializes in the nick of time. He comes back, explaining the time loop and that the TARDIS is stuck set for Earth as part of his exile. He is Not Happy about this, but the Brigadier is fine with it.
