Originial air dates January 1970. First of the third doctor, first in color. We start at a radar station of some sort, with a man calling for help.
In a field, an old codger sees something crash-land. He pokes it with a stick, then buries it.
The TARDIS lands, and the Doctor – now Jon Pertwee – falls out of it.
Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart is at a desk and has a woman come to see him. Ms. Elizabeth Shaw is brought in to help UNIT deal with the “odd”. Including the meteorites that landed this morning.
The Doctor is brought to a local hospital. The x-ray of two hearts shows up. His blood sample is not human blood.
The old codger is back, with a shovel and a burlap sack. He digs up a meteorite, which glows and makes beeping noises. He scarpers with it as UNIT comes in.
At the hospital, there’s a crowd of reporters asking about a man from space. Brigadier gives a “no comment” and they go in to see The Doctor.
The Doctor comes to and does nothing to explain to Lethbridge-Stewart, who does not recognize him. Brigadier orders him moved to HQ.
Two men in white coats kidnap the Doctor. He escapes, only to be caught trying to get to the TARDIS. Credits roll.
The Brigadier is quite concerned, and wants the guard doubled. The Police Box has been moved to HQ to free those men. The Doctor has not yet woken, and is now in a deep coma.
A man goes to a doll factory to discuss the terms of his not being hired, and is rudely pushed out. It’s quite odd.
The Doctor leaves the hospital, hiding in a “doctors only” locker room and finding new clothes there.
The UNIT men find a meteorite.
The plastic man stalks him, takes the meteorite from UNIT.
Here’s the phrase “dimensionally trancendental”.
The feisty old lady has a shotgun! Which doesn’t hurt the Auton at all. He thumps her, trashes the house looking for the meteorite. Starts on the shed as UNIT arrives. The Auton is recalled and goes.
The Doctor realizes he’s stolen clothes and a car, and needs things like this. Doctor John Smith lives again, too. He’ll be staying a while.
